Description
Built to outlast the weather, the Favorite-Trade boat trailer winch pairs a heavy duty carbon steel body with galvanized winch gears and a zinc plated, rust resistant finish, so this durable boat trailer winch keeps cranking through rain, mud, snow and spray where ordinary winches corrode. Inside, hardened, corrosion protected gears ride on a strong steel bearing for smooth, steady engagement, while the two-way ratchet with a safety pawl gives you precise forward pull and controlled reverse release. The 3500 lb rated drum holds a long 32.8 ft steel cable, so this hand winch with cable has the reach to load boats, haul ATVs, move trailers and pull heavy equipment without extra line. An extra-long, anti-slip handle lets one person crank this manual hand crank winch with less effort, and because it is fully manual it needs no power or batteries and works anywhere. Use it as a winch for boat trailer loading at the ramp, a marine winch at the dock, or a boat winch for the farm, garage or job site – dependable galvanized steel pulling power wherever you go.

Good product
I liked the construction of the winch, I would have rather had a nylon strap instead of the cable. I just traded it out from my old worn out winch that the gears were worn out on.

Very Strong High Quality Winch
Easy to install, and very strong, powerful winch. The cable should last much longer than winches with a strap. Highly recommend.

Broke on the third time I used the winch.
I used the winch 3 times and the spring on the switch broke. It broke about 2 weeks past the time I could get support from Amazon. I have emailed and tryed to call Favorite-Trade. Favorite-Trade is the one that sales through Amazon. I have not been able to get any support from the retailer. For this price tag I would expect to have a better warranty.

Great winch for the money
Replaced a worn out 2500# hand winch with this one. Reversible functionality works well – would be better with a way to let it “free wheel” in some circumstances.
Currently working really well and is much easier to crank same loads as the previous winch.
Application is technically pulling, then through two pulleys and back to lift a bale form for round hay bales. Quite pleased so far.

Definitely what I needed
I need the ability to pull cars onto my tow dolly and decided to give this a try, I’m gonna double up and use it as a security line to the cars I tow (in addition to the basket straps that go over the front wheels) this is definitely a solid unit, I’m very happy with the unit and the quality of the build, easy flip switch to go from on to off (out) really well built, solid not cheap at all, I’m very pleasantly surprised by the quality to be quite honest, I thought a setup with a long steel cable would cost way more.

I waited to see how this would fare after use - the switch spring did indeed fail after < 10 uses
I bought this product for use as a a winch on a boat ramp. It worked well until the gear switch spring failed. The essential parts of this product are well made and have done a great job. The switch that failed is such a tiny part, but makes the winch difficult to use and, I would say, less safe. It has failed such that it puts itself into neutral, meaning if I let go of the winch handle, best case the boat will go flying down the ramp and get wrecked; worst case I get the spinning handle in the face. Still usable but . . . .
In the total input cost for the item, the spring is probably 2 cents. Just a bad engineering call.

Poor cable
In 1year the cable rusted and broke. I am going to try fiber rope, 10,000lb, SS cable is 6,500lb, carbon steel is 4,200. And it will rust, and fail.

Don’t believe what you read
This was the second one I purchased. This one says 3500 lbs. I don’t believe it. It’s much smaller and the crank wheels are very thin. I used it twice for my boat. After cranking the boat all the way up to the stop. The boat would slide back about 10-12 inch when pulling it out of the water. I don’t believe it’s rated for 3500 lbs
